The Power of Belief : Covid or No Covid, Believe in Yourself, No Matter What.

It was early 2008. I had for the first time been some 8000 miles away from home, on the other side of the globe. Alone. I was both nervous and excited at the same time. The younger me had beckoned on a journey that she never thought was possible, not for her atleast. Come mid- year and the financial crisis hit the world, sending it into recession, slowly everything started going wrong, the ground slipping beneath my feet. Nothing was in my control, so I thought.

The young bird had just taken off on her first solo flight, unknown what the rough weather had in store. She embraced the uncertainty of the future. She finally figured she needed to fly either low or high to avoid the rough weathers. Thunder struck, she floundered, fell with a resonating thud, injuring her wings. As she looked askance at the unfamiliar good samaritans who helped her back on her feet, she dragged her broken wings, the feeling of losing it all undermining her physical pain, and the feeling of defeat came across her. She thought about her family; the sacrifices they had made, the pride they felt when she had taken off, the promises she had made to herself, swallowed the life out of her. The wings were broken, never to fly again. Her belief in herself lost, never to regain again.

She stood at the edge of the hill, accepting her fate, as a feeling of gratitude lit in her, that she was broken but alive. She looked down the hill, how deep it was. If she took a leap of faith, how many more bones would break, will she survive? She closed her eyes and thought, she had nothing to lose as everything was lost. She was ready to take another risk, no matter her broken wings. She decided she will fly, and if she fails she will try again. So one more time she spread her broken wings, with a deep breath, and profound belief in herself, she leapt off the hill. She fell and she hurt even more badly, yet got up and tried again, and till her last breath, yet one more time she said. One last breadth is all that was needed. And then, she flew again, higher and higher, her wings more stronger then ever.

We must Believe in ourselves, no matter what, even when we feel we have nothing left to believe in. There is nothing to lose to believe.

Just believe in yourself and continue to do whatever you are doing, that is enough even if that is the only thing left to do.

I came out of this uncertainty of life much stronger and more humble with my feet firmly on the ground. If I can, I know, anyone and everyone can survive and then thrive even in the uncertain crisis that we see ourselves in.

We are all in this together.

We will take off again.

God bless.
